Mihintale

Description.

Mihintale is a sacred mountain and ancient pilgrimage site located near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed to be the place where Mahinda Thera, the son of Emperor Ashoka of India, met King Devanampiyatissa in 247 BC and introduced Buddhism to the island. The site features a beautiful complex of ancient stupas, shrines, rock caves, and stone stairways. Surrounded by serene natural landscapes, Mihintale is both a spiritual sanctuary and a historical treasure, attracting devotees and history enthusiasts alike.
